An Indulgence in Saar
A gourmet dining experience in the heart of Saar, Le Chocolat Saar Mall brings the delicious signature Le Chocolat flavour closer to their customers
BY ANAAM IKRAM
Situated on the corner of Saar Mall, overlooking the bustling traffic passing through the Saar area, Le Chocolat Saar Mall is an ideal location for those living in the areas nearby and want to indulge in the delicious gourmet food that the restaurant has come to be known for.
The location, which has been operational since June 2015, is a spacious facility with a terrace that allows customers to enjoy the outdoor setting while indulging in the eclectic menu at Le Chocolat. Le Chocolat also is enjoys the added advantage of being one of the few fine dining restaurants in the area, and adds to the nearby area customers’ options of indulging in the renowned taste of Le Chocolat close to their homes. As with each of the different Le Chocolat locations and the different criteria of crowd they attract, the Saar branch hosts most of the foreigners that make up the majority of the Saar population.
Boasting a seating area of 150 customers (including the terrace), the Saar location carries the signature Le Chocolat aesthetic of light grey interior, projecting a relaxing ambiance, with high ceilings, big windows that allow in plenty sunlight, and muted interior colours – making the customers feel welcomed and cosy as they enjoy their meals. The ground floor of the restaurant has a smaller indoor seating area, which also lets the diners enjoy their meals in a homely setting, but also encourages the diners to explore dining al fresco on the terrace – which is an ideal dining setting in the wintery mornings in the GCC region, and perfect to enjoy the cool evening breeze during the summer. The top floor, the bigger dining area, is laid out in a manner that every table is drizzled with the warm rays of the sun as customers can oversee the bustling Saar road below.
Serving the same great taste as the other branches, the Saar location also treats its diners to the generous menu with the newly introduced specials. Heading the kitchen, Chef Karine Bonnaz uses her impressive experience as a chef to create beautiful looking and equally delicious tasting dishes. Reworking traditional dishes and incorporating seasonal fruits and vegetables in her dishes, and catering to current gastronomic trends, Chef Karine constantly works towards presenting the diners with an innovative dining experience.
Ensuring her customers enjoy a wholesome meal that is filling without being too heavy, Chef Karine created the Asian Fusion Lettuce Wraps – that are prepared with either chicken or beef – which are prepared using different Asian flavours to result in a rich tasting dish bursting with flavours with each bite. Also using a generous selection of vegetables such as yellow and red capsicum, cherry tomatoes, and enhancing the flavours using ginger and a hint of garlic, oyster sauce, and a few chilli flakes to add some spice to the dish, scooped into fresh lettuce leaves and served with soy sauce on the side. The dish is healthy soy sauce content wheat, than gluten, and is familiar to almost every palate and therefore can be enjoyed by all.
Adding a modern twist on the traditional Bahraini chicken and beef dishes, Chef Karine has taken the recipe and reworked it to appeal to a wider customer-base but still managing to preserve the authentic taste. Serving the dish in mason jars on skewers with a selection of three chicken skewers and three beef skewers, with mint yoghurt and freshly made khubz bread on the side, served on a wooden board, ready to share amongst family and friends. The chicken is prepared in the traditional Bahraini way by being marinated in yoghurt and the beef was prepped with black lemon, cooked, and cut into bite-sized cubes. The dish is perfect for those who want to get a taste of traditional food without having to eat a heavy meal to relish in the same great flavours.
For the health-conscious, Le Chocolat has also introduced their special concoction, Alkaline7. Made using seven greens – celery, cucumber, green apple, baby spinach, parsley, avocado, and a slice of banana – the detox drink is packed with nutrients, with no added sugar or preservatives. Because of the thick texture of the drink, it is enough on its own as well for those on the go.
Offering their customers much more than just hearty food, Le Chocolat provides diners the entire Le Chocolat experience, and continuously to strive towards enhancing this experience with their expansive menu options and bringing Le Chocolat closer to their customers. Diners now have the option to indulge in the delicious Le Chocolat from many locations around The Kingdom – never too far away from a hearty food experience.
