Carlton Nutrition Centre

When the conversation of healthy eating, portion control or calorie intake comes up, I instantly lose interest. I am a self-confessed chocoholic, lover of fried food with no self discipline at all. To make matters worse, I hardly drink water, or make time for breakfast, nor am I very partial to fruits or vegetables; making me the ideal candidate to sample the services of Carlton Nutrition Centre.
My trial period was for set for a week and included before and after consultations with the dietician. In my first consultation, we discussed my eating habits, work and exercise routines. In the same consultation, I had a Body Composition Analysis; a breakdown of my weight, body fat, muscle and water.
After which I chose my meal plan for the week ahead from Carlton’s menu. So far, so good. Over the week my meal boxes were delivered promptly in the morning.
Everything was packed in separate portion packs, clearly labeled ‘breakfast’ ‘lunch’ ‘dinner’ and ‘snack’, including a juice or laban. A typical day’s box would include:
One dairy item (yoghurt, laban or milk), a bagel or sandwich for breakfast, soup or salad, a main course for lunch and a main course for dinner, fruits and vegetables for snacks. There is also the option to indulge in a dessert from Calrton’s as it offers making popular sweets in a healthy manner.
At the end of the week, I was scheduled for my second consultation and another body composition analysis with the dietician. This was to review my progress and monitor any changes over the week.
The first thing I noticed from the menu was the variety. With a good selection of meals to choose from, the food was fresh, tasty, filling and packed in individual portion sizes.
Every morning, as I opened the box, everything looked so plentiful that I had no apprehension of being hungry during the day. The volume of the food in the box gave me the reassurance that I would not be going without or that I was being deprived of food.
The whole team at Carlton Nutrition Centre is genuinely friendly and service orientated. From the Receptionists, to the Dieticians and the Delivery team, everyone is incredibly efficient and courteous.
One of the best things about Carlton Nutrition Centre is the convenience factor.
The meals are packed based on the clients set daily calorie intake, which means no planning meals for the week, no weighing, or measuring necessary, as well as no time taken in any prep work, and no cooking involved.
A standard programme would be for a month, and I knew not to expect too much from only a week of the programme. However, by the end of the week, I did feel lighter and less sluggish.
This whole week was an education for me, and this is the part of the programme I benefited most from; the change in my eating habits.
The main area Dietician Arwa wanted me to focus on was to eat smaller portions within smaller time gaps, and the programme really helped me to put that into practice.
Not only was I eating regularly, instead of going long periods of time without food, I was also practicing portion control. Through the nutrition programme I was eating healthy; every meal, every snack was a healthier alternative to my usual food choices., without any extra effort on my part. All the work was done for me, all I had to do was follow the plan.
Everything I had been told about healthy eating was literally put in a box and delivered to my door every day. In a week, I may not have lost weight but I have definitely lost some very unhealthy eating habits.
