Built under the patronage of Princess Sabeeka Bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and the President of the Supreme Council for Women, Riyadat Mall was built to help Bahraini women promote and develop their skills. Princess Sabeeka, has always set to empower Bahraini women and therefore found it important to invest in a way to flourish their talents and find a platform for them to display their work.

Riyadat Mall, which is located in Al A’ali, has stores and restaurants owned independently by Bahraini females. The Supreme Council for Women set up this project in alliance with Bahrain Development Bank and Bahrain Centre for Industrial Development to help women find better work opportunities. The businesses are provided with financial help and business development advice under one of Tamkeen’s subsidies.

Princess Sabeeka stressed how important it is for females to be seen as equal to male counterparts and Riyadat Mall provides them with this opportunity as it not only helps the Bahraini females overcome difficulties and helps them earn an income to support their families which increases their livelihood and the economy as a whole. Riyadat Mall allows female empowerment and also provides them with financial and economic security. This initiative also encourages innovation and creativity amongst the Bahraini females and further enhances their talents.

There is a wide variety of stores in Riayadat Mall including Pachachic, Babushka, Roya Café, JooJoo Flowers and Sweets, Make Up Store and Showcase 101. Showcase 101 is a boutique in which various local designers can display their work all under one roof, this allows multiple designers to show the variety of work which can range from shoes, to bags to abayas.

Riyadat Mall has provided Bahraini entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to not only display their talents on a public platform but also develop themselves further.

Each issue of Perle will be showcasing a business from Riyadat Mall. This issue, we are getting to know more about home and travel accessories store, Store It.
